SUCCESSFULL BROKEN HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY REPAIRED
 

Some of you know Ive been toying with the idea of dissassembling broken headlight assemblies to repair the broken guts. And after last night spending some time with the oven, structural epoxy, and 2 glasses of wine. I successfully repaired a broken headlight assembly. So if you have a broken 1, pm me Ill either tell you how if your a DIY, or will take yours, repair it and ship back(yes for a fee, Im trying tooffset my less than stellar income for 08)

How big is your oven? Don't think the Studebaker will fit...

But seriously, did you repair the lens or the back, or both?

Love your Studebaker... Used to see a few of those (right hand drive models) on the roads in Australia years ago. Always an attractive car with very distinctive styling.

Broken Adjuster
 

Please let me know if and how u repaired the adjuster. I have 2 sets of headlight and they are all broken. It sucks!

MainJag, take a look in the X-Type forums. There are a few write ups on how to do it. In short, you are going to pull the headlights from the car, remove as much of the internals as possible, stick the rest of the headlight in the oven at like 250F for 15 minutes and then you work on pulling the clear assembly from the black backing. It will take a few heating cycles, but the clear front will come off. From there, you replace the internals, dress up the edge where the clear lens and black backing mate up, then once all is done, you use a special sealant to seal the headlight back together. Not hard, just takes a bit of time.
