Default touchup paint kits?

anyone used an aftermarket touchup paint kit before for scratches/chips and have recommendations, seen a few that have multiple steps that are supposed to blend the touchup better than just the paint pens/brushes alone
like these:

Amazon.com: Color N Drive for Jaguar Automotive Touch Up Paint - 1AU / LKT - Carpathian Grey Met/Storm Grey Met - Paint Scratch Repair, Exact Match - Pro : Automotive Amazon.com: Color N Drive for Jaguar Automotive Touch Up Paint - 1AU / LKT - Carpathian Grey Met/Storm Grey Met - Paint Scratch Repair, Exact Match - Pro : Automotive

Amazon.com: Color and Paint for Jaguar Automotive Touch Up Paint - Storm Grey MET - 1AU - Paint Scratch Repair | Exact Match - Basic : Automotive Amazon.com: Color and Paint for Jaguar Automotive Touch Up Paint - Storm Grey MET - 1AU - Paint Scratch Repair | Exact Match - Basic : Automotive

anyone have experience with anything like these, have a Storm Gray 2016 XJ

or are these essentially the same as using a standard touchup paint pen/brush allowing dry then buff with rubbing compound and polishing compound?

someone from other board suggested this one Chipex Repair Kit - Large

We are an International forum and the reason we ask members to post Location is vehicle specifications, spares sources and specialist services vary greatly across the World.

For example, US members can easily get codes read free at the likes of Pep Boys but finding touch-up paint is a challenge. Here in the UK, the exact opposite applies. I can get accurately matched touch-up paint for Jaguar in small bottles or an aerosol mixed at any vehicle parts store but finding anyone to read codes other than a dealer or independent is almost impossible. Different locations - different issues with different solutions.

Back to paint. Unfortunately the Jaguar touch-up kits are rubbish. Paint is a good colour match but too thick for rectifying stone chips or scratches and there's nothing included for preparation or final blending.

I have used the Chipex Repair Kit for scratches on a Bentley (Dark Sapphire metallic) with good results. I was 2000 miles and three countries away from home at the time so options were limited. Colour was well matched. Didn't particularly like their applicators (preferred a fine pointed artist brush) and used a hand sanding block and 6000 grit wet and dry for levelling the repair rather than their 'blending solution' technique. However, I've sprayed a few cars in my time so I wasn't starting from zero level of experience.

Don't expect an invisible repair but with care (and practice) you should be able to achieve a result that only you and passing zealots from the Paint Protection League can detect.
