Braking Noise
My I Pace makes a "sqooshing" noise when it comes to a complete stop...as the front end rises from the (just completed) stopping force. At first I thought it was a from the shocks, spring, or a bushing, Then I noticed a noise coming from the break pedal once its released after a full stop. The salesman told me that was characteristic. I've not raised the matter with the service manager yet.
Has anyone else experienced this? Everything about the car is beyond my expectation...but for this darn brake noise as it come to a complete stop. Is it in fact "characteristic"? |
I've always noticed brake noise at slow speeds but never from the brake pedal itself.
Never trust what salesmen tell you. Take it to the service manager. |
I've noticed some noise as well, but i honestly don't use brakes that much.
I'll keep an ear out for it and report back. |
I haven't noticed it myself but will try to listen more.

I listened a little more. I think we use the brakes so rarely, i do get the normal braking noise. Like brakes on a cold day or brakes used for the first time in a day.
I can't imagine how long these brake pads last for when they are used so rarely. |
In our Rav 4 EV we never changed brake pads, pads were still good when sold at 90K miles

I've driven the car several times since reading this post. I haven't noticed any unusual breaking noise in our car.

Thanks for the feedback. My noise is not a squeal...more a crunch or groan. I took the local tech on a drive and the sounds were obvious. He said nothing, except he was prepping another I-Pace for delivery and would drive it to see if it made the same noise.
The next day I took the car in to have it looked at. In the morning the service rep told me the tech told him the other I-Pace did not make the noise. But when I picked my car up the next day, the rep told me it was normal. He hinted the problem was I was not using full regenerative braking. And it being an EV, it was so quiet "normal" brake noises were easy to hear. He said he had changed the setting to high regen, leaving the creep setting on. Naturally, the noise was still there, although masked somewhat by the regen. He could have just as easily told me the solution was to turn up the radio so I couldn't hear the noise! ... so, I've sent a letter to JLR New Jersey asking them to send someone in to look at my car. We'll see if anything happens. |
Well, keep us posted and best of luck!

Have a friend push up and down on the fender while your out there listing - maybe its coming from the air bags leveling out after a stop.

brake noise is horrible!!!
You can hear mine at www.jaguaripaceproblems.com. Jaguar will not fix it...says it's "normal". Some others have the noise, but many claim they have none. This is a deal killer for me and will have to dump the car at a huge loss. Dealer offered 40% of MSRP with 2500 miles on odometer!!

With this crisis going on the last thing anyone should be doing now is selling or trading a car.

I read that the noise comes front the electric motor and gear that pressurizes the brake system. This is different than vacuum boost by ICE,
