took delivery
So far, so good. A bit surprised it came in now seeing as how I've read about order delays elsewhere but I am not complaining.

Great color

I'm soooo jealous!

Looks great. What features did you choose for yours?
|
We ordered a HSE with black pack, black extended leather, 22” wheels, carbon fiber trim, adaptive suspension, and cabin air ionization. I was a little apprehensive about the color since we ordered sight unseen, but we love it. The blue really pops but is not garish. The wheels really make the car. They should come stock. I do find it amusing that my wife’s car now has larger rims than my F-Type SVR. No I am not jealous. |
Nice!

Digging the carbon fiber trim. Really goes well with the blue exterior.

YES - I agree you are lucky. I've only seen them in showrooms and dealers appear reluctant to release them to customers! Graham |
My Corris Grey First edition is supposed to be delivered on December 8, delayed from December 5. The Collection already received two I-Pace (one First Edition and one HSE). Can hardly wait for delivery. I was able to test drive the Santorini Black First Edition they had in stock and it was unbelievably fun to drive.

Ours came in earlier than quoted, so there is the real possibility of a surprise delivery. We would have gotten the First Edition if there were more color choices. Agree, it is surprisingly fun to drive. I have not at any point felt like the actual driving experience is a compromise due to being an EV. |
Got my First Edition in Photon Red, with all the First Edition standard features )Basically loaded with everything)

That is a very fair point. Our point of reference is a 2010 BMW 535xi Touring w/ M-Sport package so I suppose I had low(er) expectations of the handling due to the SUV/crossover dimensions and low rolling resistance tires. Fortunately, the active suspension in Dynamic mode really tightens things up. Even my wife prefers driving the I-Pace in Dynamic mode which is notable considering she absolutely hates riding in the F-Type when in Dynamic mode. Now that we have had the car for a couple of weeks, I will say that the low resistance tires definitely will not let me drive the I-Pace like a F-Type or even like the 535xi (w/ Michelin PS2s). But they do have a very reasonable amount of grip, far more than is needed for a sporty crossover. I suppose I could change to performance tires, but the I-Pace range would probably take an unwelcome hit. Adjusting my driving style to be, ahem, more sedate has proven to have other benefits too like not eliciting complaints from the in-laws while they visit for the holidays. So I’ll suck it up and save the spirited driving for alone moments in the F-Type. |
Home finally, 160 miles of largely messy driving
|
Congrats! How was your drive?
|
It was a fun drive at a sedate 55 MPH. After 160 miles I was showing 26 miles remaining. But figured with the cold (mostly around freezing) and the mountains range would suck which is why I drove very sedately. Of course, this morniung the center displays went out. So the car is on a trailer back to the dealer (apparently this problem just started showing up in Europe). I'll do a seperate thread on it.
