Connolly hide food... amazing!

1 Attachment(s)
Perhaps the most trusted, reputable name in the leather industry, Wimbledon-based Connolly Leather has gifted leather owners with a magic potion to prevent the aging and deterioration of leather. Hide Care Leather Conditioner restores leathers essential moisturizers and protectants in a creamy emulsion of lanolin, white spirit, and natural oils restoring and maintaining the original beauty. Furthermore, Hide Care Leather Conditioner is properly pH balanced to offset the natural alkalinity of leather, and keep it healthy.

Right after using it you feel your leather firm up, but it doesnt make it feek oily like the cheap autoparts store cleaners do.. definitely worth the $25 for the little container..

Prefer Gliptone, you can coat a piece of card with the conditioner to make a leather smell air freshener, place under a seat and you get that old leather smell every tme you get into the car.
PH balanced etc too

I agree with the Connolly Hide Food. Best way to apply it is to microwave it until it is soupy. Apply it sparingly to the leather. Let the car sit in the sun for a few hours and then wipe it down with a soft cloth. I use this exclusively on my Rolls Royce.

I just bought some last week & applied it to my S Type. Wow, This Shite really does work!

How often should one reapply? Once a month? Every 6 months?

Wow... that's a good pitch! You should do infomercials! lol Where can you find that stuff?? Do you also know of any kind of cleanser that would get out the dirt that is ground into the leather? I bought my car used and it has the very light bone color interior and the dirt that gets into the lines of the leather is hard to get out. Any suggestions to getting her close to being like new again?

use a combination of woolite and water....yes it works amazingly well and it dilutes any odors, you can use it anywhere on the interior...leather, dash, wood, carpets etc. i believe it is one one part woolite to 5 parts water. then use lexol or any other high line conditioner to protect and rejuvinate. Also, i believe that first paragraph was a copy and paste from their marketing dept lol

I have used products from Leatherique, http://www.leatherique.com
Their products are amaizing. A friend just re-dyed the interior of his 2000 XJ8 and it looks like brand new. I have used their leather rejuvinator and their Pristine Clean and it works wonders. Rolls Royce and Ferrari owners love it.

I've used most popular leather conditioners and Connolly Leather Conditioner has been my favorite for a car. Easy to use, outstanding results...

I like to condition the interior at least quarterly. It does not take long.

Maybe this thread could help somebody better understand how to use Connolly products

Name Change

I'm a great fan of this stuff too.
The name has changed however: its now Connolly Hide Conditioner.
Apparently the FDA made 'em change it, as they didn't want something inedible called 'food' !!

BTW, its hard to find: a few friends and I split an order (usually of 6 jars) from EBay or Amazon.

I didn't find it hard to find at all. I simply walked into my local Jag dealership, asked for a jar, took out a second mortgage to pay for it, and was on my merry way!

Just out of vulgar curiosity, what does a dealership charge for this item?

2000JagLvr 08-30-2013 08:10 PM

I paid around $25-$28 for mine at the dealer.

Looks like AutoGeek has it available as well.

Connolly Hide Care Leather,Connolly Hide Food products is specifically formulated to nourish, moisturize and treat leather right from day one.

AutoGeek says it is on backorder, however I did find some supposedly in stock at the link below.

Jaguar Parts & Land Rover Parts Online Store

I'll keep everyone posted on if I receive it. The site does say that Connolly has gone out of business. :(

Connolly went out of the business of supplying leather as a result of the mad cow scare in the UK back around the turn of the millennium and the subsequent loss of most of the herds when the animals were destroyed. I think I bought the last of the hides that Hirsch Auto had in stock back in 2002. Extremely nice stuff (and ended up redoing the interior of my Turboesprit with what I had picked up).

I second the Leatherique solutions. Been using them for years, and always had good luck with their products. YMMV, though. You can buy direct, or, I believe http://www.hirschauto.com/products.asp?dept=25 is re-labeling and selling the Leatherique products. No financial interest, etc.

Hello there :)

100% wrong :) Mad cow problems had nothing to do with Connolly demise.

Was the US - well more specifically the British oversight of the US - that killed Connolly leather - they entered the market without any research and paid the price.

Where I come from - Portugal - it was actually Connolly biggest and main supplier for leathers - we keep cows in the wild WITHOUT barbed wire or wire - a must for Connolly leathers at the time, which said barbed wire or wire would mark the leathers.

Info on the Connolly demise : Cracks in Connolly's world of leather - Telegraph

Have fun reading :)
