peeling headliner cloth

I know one of the traits of the S Type is the eventual peeling of the headliner cloth. I used a spray adhesive to repair a minor "pull away spot",but it discolored the material slightly.

Can anyone recommend a product that's good for just this application?

Thanks.

hi guys, I never got a response...any recommendations? Anyone else had issues with the headliner cloth in a S-Type? The board underneath seems to be in good shape, but the cloth is sagging and seperating from the board. I was told that3mheadliner glue might be good.Should I use a spray or brush-on? (I haveto do something in the next few weeks.... it looks really TACKY!! :) Thanks.

Hey pal, I used the 3m spray adhesive and it did discolor my headliner a bit, but it sure is stuck on there. I would do it at night though, or when it's not hot out. This way the glue will surely dry. Otherwise, the heat of the day will melt the glue and cause for the liner to sag again.

Thanks Bigdreams, I took a chance this weekend and bought the 3M. It worked well, but you're right, it discolored the headliner a bit...but at least it's firmly attached. I'll just tell my passengers not to look up. :)

Well you could cure that...rip the whole liner out and spray the whole thing with a few cans of the 3m you guys are speaking of!:D:D:D;)

Funny !! , although I think I might be better off with some painter's tape, plastic, and spray-paint !! lol ..or maybe relined infaux leopard?...either way, i think I might STILL have to tell my passengers not to look up.

Well, after using the 3M spray, I followed the instructions to the letter, and the headliner fell again... guess I'll just have to redo it eventually...

...until then, still reminded my passengers not to look up...

...it's always something with this car!! ...

...maybeI'll try Velcro >

FYIi: Found a guy here in S. Florida who replaced the headliner for about $150.00.He comes to your home and does the replacement in your driveway.

If anyone needs a new/repaired headliner, let me know, I'll give you his info.

He did a great job, removed and replaced in about 2 hours, looksbrand new, and guaranteed for 1 year.

That's about the going price. It's a little on the low end, so you did well!
