Weather Stripping Care

So what do you guys do to treat the weather stripping on the door jams and trunk so it stays flexible and looking good plus avoid cracking? Just curious...thanks.

peace out,

WD-40 Silicone did it the other day went over it twice and it protects it. Make sure you do it under the bonnet as there is the most heat there.

I would not use silicone of any type. WD40 Silicone, by design, is made for metal. As it states in the advert.

I use 303 Rubber Seal Protectant which, as seen below, is for rubber only.

I'd like to know what the Brits are using though! Or for even more fun, what are the Welsh using to protect their rubber?!

  • Conditions rubber seals on doors, windows, hoods and trunks
  • Protects against drying and cracking in extreme temperatures
  • Rejuvenates color to old seals, restores elasticity

Wow, I didn’t realize what a difference that it could make to try out something like this to keep my door jambs working the way that they should. Is it still a good idea to try that rubber stuff, or does anyone else have other suggestions on what could be best for similar needs? I’m starting to notice some issues with my door as my Jag ages.

Rubber Seal Protectant is an easy, convenient way to keep the rubber seals of doors and windows, apply it to the weather stripping in your car using the attached foam applicator.

Gummi Pflege is the best stuff I’ve used.

303 makes great products.
