X-type ECU swapping
I already posted in the x-type forum but this one appears more technical so I'll post it again here.
A couple weeks ago we had a real hot day (114) and when I started the car up, it immediately went into limp mode and was returning a P1609 code. This appears to be an internal communication code so I sent the ECU off for repair. The repair shop says the main chip is bad and they can't fix it. I already own the British Diagnostics JLR SDD IDS software that I bought for my X350. I'm wondering if I can obtain another ECU and use that software to "pair" the replacement ECU to the car. Has anyone done that? Alternatively, has anyone had an ECU repair shop fix the P1609 code on theirs? This ECU has been repaired once previously (P1229). Or am I just hosed on this?
