Jaguar xf motor install range over parts swap over ?aj126

Hello anyone can tell me the parts need to be swapped over from a Jaguar 2017 xf motor v6 3.0 to fit a 2016 Range Rover 3.0v6 si see the jag motors motor available lower miles and bit cheaper.

I assume the RR is AWD and the Jag XF motor is from a RWD version?
If so I seem to recall that at least the sump needs to be changed over (different size and shape sump for AWD vs RWD) and maybe a metal boss on the XF motor needs to be ground down a little for clearance.
Can you see both motors side by side out of the car(s) so you can closely compare them?

I was told the oil pan and oil pick up and manifolds and wire harness

yea it’s off a 17’ ftype rear wheel

not sure if the oil pump or any other accessories need to be changes

also possibly crank pulley

I just purchased the motor today on eBay and trying to get a head start before it comes

Thank u

I’m just thinking out loud here but, I suggest you proceed with caution. Camshaft profiles and cam phasers can have differences going from one platform to another. Yes, I know it’s still a JLR engine but, your ECM will detect different behaviors from the new heart transplant. The ECM will be used to one reading and it’s likely to get another type of reading which will be possibly out of that said parameter. What I’m ultimately getting at is that when you get the oil pan/pickup situated and the engine installed, you could get several engine codes, reduced power mode and possibly a slew of other issues all related to the transplant. I’ve been in situations where an engine that I had to install wasn’t of the correct year and model vehicle but having to ‘make it work’. I know what it’s like to do a ton of work and realizing I have many obstacles to overcome and in some cases, having to remove the engine and backtrack the whole process. I just wanted to give you a heads up that this can possibly go sideways. I want to you succeed with the replacement and hope it goes well.
Cheers!

Thanks for the response I had a buddy do a motor swap of the same issue and he installed the jag motor in the Land Rover after swapping all the necessary parts over flashed the computer and no issues. I will be installing the engine later this week so I will stay tuned

That’s awesome! Hopefully your buddy is close by in case you run into any snags.
