MY NEW RSR Jaguar ENGINE ARRIVED !
 

Today start my new project.
Just arrived from Tony Gentilozzi of RSR JAGUAR USA his racing block 4.8L for my xkr coupe year 2005.
Big bore with 92mm pistons .

This is real an exciting day for me !

I don't know but for me that looks like standard V8 block...just Darton-sleeved to 92mm? Like some others here in the forum have done.

It looks indeed like a normal standard bored out block, cleaned but take it its used by an old lady who never pushed it ;-)

Maybe the price was ok comparted to make it yourself, that's for duece2000 to tell, it depends also on possible other parts not shown in the picture as only a bare upper block is shown.

There is certainly potential now as I have experienced, its just the intake part that will be lagging behind if he doesn't throw away the Eaton.

What's odd is that as far as I knew, RSR was using the AJ133 engine in the car shown.

Attached my 92mm bore engine, as you can see my builder took a different approach to the top flange.

Nice! I am beginning to feel 4.2 is too small now....Awesome sound that Gt2 XKR has and avos is right, it uses the NA 5.0 AJ133 tuned up apparently. I found some info here: https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.t...73325.amp.html

Awesome that RSR are selling parts to private customers too. I always wondered what they did to their XFR to hit 225mph at Bonneville. I've seen a tuned XFR easily hit 186mph, but another 39mph at those speeds must take a lot of extra power.

They where making lots of customs parts, even full custom engines for our cars, like a 4.5 engine which consisted of an own developed block, new internals obviously and some more for $25k+ which isn't even that high actually if you count it all up. I also wanted to have the same shape of pistons from CP, but somehow my builder didn't do that as you can see for mine.

For which piston material did you go, 2618 or 4032?

I finally did something that you like too! I'm happy!
we have sent the original pistons to this specialized company : CPS - Costruzione Pistoni Speciali - Torino
and they have them rebuilt more big . I don't know what kind of material they used but on their site they are listed as "competition pistons" so I guess it's the best!

ah ... I forgot. I made them build 9. One to put it in the window of my dinner room along with the original piston! :-)

Pistons look fantastic. Can you weigh your spare one and post the weight? (Plus weight of the rings?) What is the compression height?
(Perhaps they provided you with an inspection sheet that lists all the pertinent data.)

Better (ie Best) depends on what you require, here is a site that explains the differences between the materials
2618 vs. 4032 Piston Material Differences

I choose the 2618 material, mainly as I wanted to be better protected due to the higher pressures/temps that the engine would experience going up the HP road, so for that part it was the best choice.

One disadvantage is they are loud when cold, and as I am not hunting anymore for higher HP levels and as I have other rides now, I would actually want to switch to the 4032 pistons one day when the budget permits...
