1999 XK8 Convertible owners manual

Does anyone know a source to get or read an owners manual for my 1999 XK8?

Hi Graham:

I know I'm a newbie, but I tried to download the 1999 Jaguar XK8/XKR Handbook Sets (Manuals) 1997 to 2006 FAQ above from your link and I got some wicked viruses/ malware on my computer.

It downloaded about 8 to 10 programs onto my hard drive. The main one was called
PC Accelerate Pro
WeatherBug (2 of them)
Driver updates
Charity program
and about 5 more.

It took my IT person about an hour along with me to remove this stuff. He believes this was preparing for the "ransom ware" set up.

It all happened on one mouse click when I tried to download the Drivers Manual for the 1999 Jaguar XK8.

Just giving you a heads up.

You should remove those manuals. My $.02.

I never did get the manuals either.

Hopefully this prevents some Jaguar forum users some serious pain.

Thanks!

The manuals are on the forum's MediaFire online storage account and not on Internet Brands servers. I've tried the process today with the following results:

1. navigate to the Handbook thread on the forum and select JAGUAR XK8 - Vehicle Literature Summary USA_v3.pdf:

Attachment 143010
(click on the image to enlarge it)

2. this downloads the Vehicle Document Set - USA.pdf with the individual document links:

Attachment 143011
(click on the image to enlarge it)

3. selecting the link for USA 02 (Driver's Handbook - 1999 Model Year USA) opened MediaFire with a button to start the download:

4. This downloaded the ZIP to my local drive with no drama:

5. unzipped the Driver's Handbook:

At no stage was I prompted to download anything other and certainly no installation(s) commenced.

My antivirus is Bitdefender2017 and I also run Adblock Plus. What antivirus etc are you using?

Graham:

I use AVG anti virus protection. It prompted me as a potential problem. I disregarded my anti virus warning thinking it was a trusted site. I went ahead and tried to download the 1999 manual and was attacked with malware.

I downloaded your #3. above. It launched the malware immediately for me.

I'm going to stay away from the manuals. It took me over two hours to clean this up with my neighbor who is a government IT specialist assisting me in the clean up. He said they are just after money to help you "fix" your computer they just loaded the malware on.

I turned off my antivirus and Adblocker and repeated running the links to see what may have happened.

The following screen then appears instead of the one in (3) above:

Attachment 143043
(click on the image to enlarge it)

It contains advertising and links not visible when adequate AV etc are installed.

Clicking on the MediaFire USA 2 Download (13.5MB) button (arrowed in blue) downloads the Driver's Manual.

Clicking on the advertising link (arrowed in red) takes you out of MediaFire to another website for driverupdate.net

Thanks for taking the time to show this to me. My neighbor (Govt. IT Specialist) said it may be that our local cable Internet provider does not block this stuff. Maybe your Internet provider blocks it. I did not click to update my drivers. I clicked on Handbook Download and it automatically launched on me?

Anyway thanks for your help and I'm not trying to be a pain in the ass; just passing along what happened to me.
