Jaguar or not a Jaguar

Can anyone " please explain " why the Classic category starts with the Mk 5 and not the 1946-8 Jaguars or better still why not the SS Jaguar. These would definitely be classed as Classics.

Is it that no one has one or two or are they just to old to be listed ?

I'd say more so that the forum lacks the presence of one (or two) of them.

There weren't as many made as from later cars like the XKs, the Mark Vs and co.

There would be few posts regarding the very early models. Numbers built were low and the few surviving examples are usually in the hands of experienced collectors/restorers who don't need to look to forums like this for help and advice.

We do have the Other Jaguar Models / Concepts / Replicas - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum forum which is appropriate for low volume models not covered elsewhere.

Even if it was a sarky comment it's always welcome, I can be a bit sarcastic myself occasionally. :o

To be fair, I think Kove has a point, we do "exclude" the early cars here, the pre-war SS's and the MK IV are missing from the coverage of models in the subforums.

For me it would make sense if we have the pre-war SS's, the MK IV and the MK V separate from the later cars, primarily because the engine's in these cars were the Standard pushrod motor, whereas the MK VII onwards got the XK engine.

That's how the cars are segregated in most clubs anyhow.

While we are at it, the XKSS subforum should also include the C-Type and D-Type :icon_duck:
