Post counter

Not that it matters but am I right the post counter doesn't increment for 'off-topic' ?

Norri 07-21-2012 08:51 AM

For once you are wrong Steve.
Is yours not changing?

steveinfrance 07-21-2012 10:10 AM

Norri,
No it only changes when I post elsewhere.
If you look (eg) at the last page of question for question you'l see none of our post counts increment except when we go away and post elsewhere(or have I got terminal OFitis?)

Norri 07-21-2012 11:42 AM

Well, I just tried and went from 12,293 - 12,294.

Have you been taking your medicine today? I'm just ready for my first dose.

Translator 07-21-2012 11:43 AM

No it increments wherever you post Steve including Off Topic.

Of course, if feeling a little peevish it could always be made to decrease. ;)

steveinfrance 07-21-2012 11:57 AM

Infamy Infamy you've all got it in for me!
About to start on the Red Medicine because driven to it by you chaps......
Please tell me I'm not hallucinating

'You Plonker' ;)

Of course your post count will be the same in all your posts that is how it works.

Make a post and your whole count is updated across the board.

Doh ;)

I crack a couple of bottles, Appero Time.

You are showing 870 right across the board!!!

Norri 07-21-2012 12:30 PM

What you need to do is check your post count in your last post (write it down) in the thread, take a large swig of medicine to help formulate a good answer, post that and compare numbers.

steveinfrance 07-21-2012 02:22 PM

Oh sh*t
Why is life so complicated ?
An alf decent database would update each time I post but I have to accept that we're in the Dark Ages here.
Off to open a second bottle so GoodNight and Shleep Well.

Gus 07-21-2012 02:28 PM

Well, I’m glad we got that cleared up!

steveinfrance 07-21-2012 02:32 PM

Gus
Did we?
I still don't understand what's going on but I won't buy a time share from this lot!!

Gus 07-21-2012 02:35 PM

It is a conspiracy they are trying to keep you from reaching 1000 posts.

I can sell you a nice 1990 Chrysler LeBaron convertible. ;)

Seriously though it does update with every post, maybe we can do a test tomorrow? Or maybe yours doesn't, we can still check.

Translator 07-22-2012 03:55 AM

Feeling better this morning Steve?

(it must have been the first Sun of the Summer;) )

steveinfrance 07-22-2012 04:30 AM

Much better thanks, but I'm still not convinced. Not that it matters. Not that anyone really cares.
Going to weed my potatoes again and talk to my friend Eeyore.
I've never had such an invasion of Sow thistles - just impossible.

Translator 07-23-2012 03:07 AM

Say hello to Eeyore for me.

Agree about the Sow Thistles, even poking up in undisturbed ground.

Still they are edible, Stir fried Sow Thistle and Pork might be the way to go. ;)

Now for the on-topic bit.

Is your Post Counter now behaving?

steveinfrance 07-23-2012 03:59 AM

Richard,
Norri + GGG helped me get my thick head round what you said on Saturday.
I'd assumed the post count was frozen in time when the post was made, not dynamically updated - as you said - 'across the board'
I've manually upgraded myself to Old Fart in Excelsis.

Have you ever eaten sow thistles - it would be a suitable revenge on the b*st*rds

Translator 07-23-2012 04:18 AM

LOL Steve, glad we cleared that up. ;)

(once or twice, a little bitter, not unlike 'chard', pigs love 'em, hence the name. Normally when foraging you should avoid anything with white sap, but loads of recipes for these things)

You know me, if it arrives on my doorstep and is reasonably edible, I'll give it a go. Been stuffing my face with peas recently, but the owner of the field has now harvested the field for cattle fodder. (mixed grain, peas, and other stuff, yummy).

Eating Weeds.

(Post Counter, to Eating Weeds, probably should stop the Hijack now ;) )

All the best.

steveinfrance 07-23-2012 04:23 AM

Thanks, as usual, for all your help.
It's haricots here at the moment - as usual you can't give 'em away.
Do any of the weeds cure terminal stupidity (not in the sudden and permanent way)

We never call it that around here, a 'transitory lapse in concentration' due to adverse climatic phenomenon, and maybe too many beans, best describes your condition.

Not exactly a 'Weed' but Walnuts seem to have notable results over the long term. (heck they look like a brain, even)!

And you must have tree loads of them around you, esp' soaked in 'Eau de Vie' :)
