VPN and this forum.

Could someone explain (remember i'm over 12..) why l have to disconnect from my VPN when l visit this site. I'm not sure that the VPN should interfere with the running of the page ??

Are you VPNing into a private company? If so you could just be hitting constraints they are placing on web access. If you are just using a VPN for personal privacy it shouldnt impact you that way.

Is only JF access affected this way?

As pointed out by yarpos, depending on the VPN software you are using, some or all network traffic from your desktop will be routed through the VPN where the company can block sites that are deemed inappropriate for work use. And even if not all network traffic isn't routed through the VPN tunnel, I've seen some VPN clients place access restrictions on what you can do on your desktop while the VPN is connected. As an FYI, the company could very well be logging all your web browsing activity while connected to the VPN too.

Thanks for your replies. I had wondered where this had ended up.
I use hidemyass VPN for watching TV in other countries and sometimes forget to turn it off when browsing forums. This seems to be the only forum that throws a "wobbly " when so. All other forums using the same ? software seem fine. Its not a big problem ....I was just wondering.

I would wonder also. Generic VPN access to an open forum giving a site specific problem is an odd one.

I was in a country that limits internet traffic for some time and this forum was one of the only forums I visit where I had to use a VPN. I was using expat shield.
