I've moved your question from Mark V - X 420G to XJ40 forum. This is the place to post questions about your model.
Please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some information about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. Hi sejone63,
It will certainly help us help you if you can answer frenchfairplaydriver's question about which part is twisted. Part 1 in the diagram he posted is the rear control arm or wishbone.
In the diagram below, Part 14 is the subframe (also known as the crossbeam or mounting frame). Part 1 in this diagram is the "wide mounting bracket."
A great place to find diagrams like this, as well as part numbers, is jaguarclassicparts.com, the parts service of the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust.
Parts like these are no longer available new from Jaguar, so salvaged parts are typically the only option, unless you can find new old stock. I try to find an eBay seller who is offering parts from the same model and year, and use the eBay message system to contact the seller to ask if he or she has the parts I need.
Cheers,
Don
