Hi, and welcome to my page!

I have owned and maintained British cars since 1978, beginning with my first car, a 1968 Triumph Spitfire, and my second, a 1969 MGB. Our first Jaguar was a 1988 XJ40 Sovereign, and we owned a 1993 XJ40 Vanden Plas for 16 years. Our current Jags are a 2003 X308 XJ8 and a 2004 X350 XJR Sport.

Here are links to a few lists I compiled:

    Cheers,

    Don

    Hi Don B!

You have been so helpful in helping me with my 93 XJ6 4.0, the fuel pump problem...I think you have the same car.

The time has now come to fix it, and thanks to you, I have located the parts I need.

However, my mechanic is also wanting to reeplace a part (of the fuel pump system) which I, even with the diagrams you have sent me, have not been able to identify.

I would ask you to please try to identify the part....I am sending you a picture.

    Thank you so much.

    Best Regards

    Pedro

    Hi Don B!

THANK YOU so much for having taken the time to write, and help me! If there is anything I can do for you, please dont hesitate to ask.

The problem is in fact the electric connection on top of the fuel pump, there has been some electric arcing....So, as soon as the car vibrates the connection gets lose, and the car stops....

I will see if I can just get the electric connector, as this way I would not spend so much money. But the pump itself is not so expensive.

    Warm Regards

    Pedro

    Hi Don B!

Like you, I also own an XJ6, 4.0 1993 sovereign, American version. Bought it years ago from the American Embassy in Portugal, where I now live. Love the car but I have come across a fuel pump problem. the car just stops!

I called in my mechanic, which quickly established that it was the connection on top of the fuel pump that is half burned.

This morning, I was investigating further and I have come across a posting from you dating back to 2014, which described exactly the same problem!

I would ask for your help, as I am having trouble to find the right fuel pump to replace the problematic one . There are quite a few options available...

Could you please advise which option I should take? Which pump I should buy? What is the OEM part number?

    Thank you very much!

Hi again Don, I took your response to heart about the battery reply I made and decided to make a thread out of it. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...3/#post1509863 I was wondering if it garnered a Sticky and perhaps duplicated in other threads or just the General Info forum?

Hi Don, I didn't know where to post this since it covers all Jaguar Classic models. I was hoping you would have a better idea of where to put it?

Thought it would be interesting for those who can afford such a venture and want originality and perfection.
