Could be ECATS as it should be able to vary damping. I once had a battery problem and the car would just start. At that moment the ECATS was off and the car is hard as a rock. During normal driving its never so hard so it must be able to modulate damping. I would think the settings in ECATS aren't just one value but optimised for different conditions. Oh well, maybe I'll get some more info next time I see this mechanic again.

    Thanks for you input Don!

    Hi Don,

No, it wasn't on the forum. A fellow Jag X350 owner had his car serviced at a very good Jaguar mechanic who really knows his stuff. He mentioned him that he found his car a bit soft sprung and according to him the mechanic adjusted the spring/damper settings with software.

The fellow X350 is also pretty technically savvy and says he can actually feel the car being more stiff and cornering better. But I haven't got a clue how this would be possible apart from maybe editing the VID block and then I'm still not sure what could be changed.

    Hi Don,

    How are you doing?

Just curious what's your opinion on the following. Somebody claims they can alter the characteristics of the X350 air suspension with a (WDS/SDD?) Jaguar software tool. I can imagine changing the pressure in the system but that would only alter ride height I would think. What do you think?

    Regards,

    Guus

    Hello Don.
    My name is Cash Case.
I noticed your name in reference to a spring compressor.
I have a '98 XJ8 and I am trying to replace the ball joints.
I've not been able to get them off so I thought I would take the whole wishbone to a mechanic with a giant press to get the old ones out and the new ones in.
My problem is that I cannot find the correct spring compressor for sale or rent anywhere. And, I understand you built one.
Would it be possible to send me photos of what you built so that I might replicate it.
    -Thank you-

Hi, and welcome to my page!

I have owned and maintained British cars since 1978, beginning with my first car, a 1968 Triumph Spitfire, and my second, a 1969 MGB. Our first Jaguar was a 1988 XJ40 Sovereign, and we owned a 1993 XJ40 Vanden Plas for 16 years. Our current Jags are a 2003 X308 XJ8 and a 2004 X350 XJR Sport.

Here are links to a few lists I compiled:

    Hi Don B!

You have been so helpful in helping me with my 93 XJ6 4.0, the fuel pump problem...I think you have the same car.

The time has now come to fix it, and thanks to you, I have located the parts I need.

However, my mechanic is also wanting to reeplace a part (of the fuel pump system) which I, even with the diagrams you have sent me, have not been able to identify.

I would ask you to please try to identify the part....I am sending you a picture.

    Thank you so much.

    Best Regards

    Pedro

    Hi Don B!

THANK YOU so much for having taken the time to write, and help me! If there is anything I can do for you, please dont hesitate to ask.

The problem is in fact the electric connection on top of the fuel pump, there has been some electric arcing....So, as soon as the car vibrates the connection gets lose, and the car stops....

I will see if I can just get the electric connector, as this way I would not spend so much money. But the pump itself is not so expensive.

    Warm Regards

    Pedro
