thanks Greg cheers for the diag. I must have pulled it out when the Kenwood radio plugs came out with the radio, It had dropped down to another level so I had to pull it out from the right cheek side and reroute it till I could grab hold of it and reinstate,

    Hi Greg,
Quick question... the XJS 88 I am buying (4 weeks to go) has the yellow fan.
This is on trade me in NZ...
I was looking at E-fans Ford version lots have used and I can get a set for $112 NZ - $74 USd

    I can get this for $255.NZD - . $168 USD

    What do you recommend?
Wait until I have the car.... then get the E-fans?
Buy the standard replacement - quick fix?
I dont mind doing the work fitting the E-fans, but being so new to me would this be a good option to get the car worry free from a fan point of view?

Hi Greg , I'm sorry I haven't been in touch since you got the parts but I have been working 7 days a week lately as mentioned before. Anyhow did you get your lights fitted ok? The current interest in the xjs means you will probably get a few quid back on your old lamps. Anyway hope you got things sorted.

Don't want to loose you as a resource!

I've been reading up on all your posts just in case I come across issues you have diagnosed.

I love this car soooo much and need all the help I can get.

    Greg, Doug, Grant,

Please see my recent postings at arrgghh......reference the car not starting now. Need your help. I am losing my mind with this. Is there any chance that I have turned he AAV screw in too far for the car to start? I haven't checked the coil or voltage to the plugs yet. Will do that as soon as I figure out how to do it without knocking my teeth out. Thanks, Brad

    Hey Greg,

I was goin over some post that he have discussed and wandered into a different threat where someone was referring to their AAV and a rough oscillating idle and you had mentioned you went with a solenoid cabin switch instead of the aav. I am still having issues even though I have gone through damn near everything as per my thread with over 190 posts with you and others back and forth. I plan on trying to take my aav off in the morning and replacing it with one that i know works as I have tested it in hot/ boiling water. What is this cabin switch and how does it replace the AAV. Walkthough, item number? Though I have replaced numerous things, I think this damn AAV has to be it even though I though it checked out ok. Once this is done I can move onto the breaks and she'll be on the road.

    Hi Greg,

As I posted yesterday, I got a new coolant temp sensor today and tried on the car. It didn't work! same symptom as before. The engine cranks and temp to start but not able to. If I disconnect the coolant temp sensor, the engine will start after two times crank and then the idle will shoot to around 2800 rpm for about half minute and dies. I measured the new and the old coolant temp sensor, they are about the same so I guess I can rule out the sensor now. But what other causes can you think of? I really need some help here to brush it off. Thanks!
