240 chrome rims for the steel wheel

I have a question about the following item:

https://www.sngbarratt.com/uk/#!/Eng...0-61d28afb04be

was it a standard factory specs for the 240s fitted with steel wheels, or this is an aftermarket extra?

cheers

Rimbellishers were certainly standard for most models with steel wheels & hubcaps. However I've seen ads like this without them on the 240/340. So maybe for 240/340 they were an option & no longer standard like Mk2 & S Type.

Sorry ~ this forum is really messing around today!

Originally these "rimbellishers" were a factory extra, but were also available outside the Jaguar spares network as so many cars in the 60s had them. Clearly now, decades later, any ones you buy new now will be aftermarket as is stated on the SNG Barratt page. Incidentally the fitment is very brutal to the paint on the wheel, so much so that many people used to put a bit of tape round the "claws" before fitting.

This was the standard ex works steel wheel set up for most Mk2's & S types. The Jaguar profile was different to most aftermarket items.
