Front Tow Point (s) for MKII
Hey all,
If you have followed my other thread, I will soon be picking up a low mile 67 MKII, pick up day is this Friday. I am not familiar with the front end of this vehicle, however I presume based on age there is no place for a tow eye, or a built in hook. While I am sure I can deduce the best place to attach a strap to winch it on the trailer, I like to be prepared, and want to ensure I do not damage anything. Therefore if anyone has "best practices" for attaching a tow strap, I would greatly appreciate it. This is not to tow the car, it is to pull it onto a trailer, as I do not want to attempt to start the car until I have flushed all fluids, and rotated engine by hand etc. I will be using a nylon strap to minimize marring or damage. Thanks! |
I would think around the front sub frame cross member,
about the best place, |

Not on the body. Subframe only. I hook the spring mounts and pull onto trailer.
