Jaguar MkII/Daimler V8 DiscBrakes - Bleeding?

Jaguar MkII/Daimler V8 DiscBrakes, I recall reading somewhere that these cars brakes are self bleeding when refitting and filling with brake fluid, however I cannot find where I saw it or if I did.

Does anyone know if they are and if so how and what is the procedure.

If they are not self bleeding what is the best procedure for bleeding the complete system, is there an order to which wheel first, second, third and forth etc ?

Any help welcome.

Hi,

The brakes aren't self bleeding, best way to bleed a whole system is start at the brake calliper furthest from the master cylinder and work your way to the closest calliper.

You may be confused with the power steering system which bleeds itself when you turn the steering wheel from.lock to lock.

Thanks Homer, I think maybe I was dreaming or just hoping.

does anyone know what the willwood part number is for the replacement brakes for a Mark II?

I don't know who "willwood" are, but do bear in mind that Mark 2 brakes are a very old design, and totally unlike modern calipers, so are unlikely to appear in a modern motor factor catalogue.

However, it is possible to buy modern "bolt-on" calipers to replace the old design. Is this what you are thinking of doing ? It is also possible to buy new brake cylinders to the old design: -

and even in stainless steel !

Not cheap though

I think that Primaz (https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/m...primaz-105554/) may have fitted Willwood calipers to his project, it would be worth sending him a PM.
