Length of vacuum tube
I'm starting on the reassembly of my car after a very, very long time at the body shop. It's time to plumb the vacuum lines. Does anyone know how much tubing I will need? This would be from the stock engine vacuum pipe to the reservoir and from the reservoir to the servo. In case it matters, the servo is rebuilt stock. 3.8 L engine. I'm not sure on the routing and slack needed for the engine to reservoir piece.
I'm trying to make this all as factory correct as possible. The tubing stocked by SNG Barrett and Moss is the correct fabric covered material (as best I can tell) and it must have a golden core at $15 per foot. Any other sources for reasonably priced tubing?
Thanks
Craig

I can't answer your Mk2 length question as I restored an S Type that has miles of it.
VW used the same fabric covered tube at one time but I wonder if it is any cheaper from them. Knowing VAG group pricing I doubt it.
You might find this usefull ~ Lin who catalogued his Mk2 restoration is a member here but I have not seen him post in a long time. His entire blog is useful.

Thanks Glyn. I'm a big fan of Lin's Mk2 blog and a check it out frequently. It is a huge help.
I may just buy something cheap and when I'm happy with that, duplicate the lengths with the good stuff.

Unless you are planning to enter concourse I would not bother to try and use the "correct" fabric covered hose.
I have found collapsed vacuum hoses a number of times and they were always the old fabric covered rubber hoses.
Modern vacuum hoses are much better, cheaper and will last a long time.
