Mk2 axle oil-seal gaskets
I'm rebuilding the rear brakes and installing new outer oil seals on my Mk2 and confused about how many paper gaskets there should be. My car had only one each side (under the oil-seal retainer plate), shop-manual diagrams only show one, but parts manual says there should be two, and so do some online resources. Anybody know what is correct?

You have the inner seal, shims, backing plate, paper gasket, retainer, paper seal, oil seal container with seal, then hub.

Hi,
I recall there only being one on each side - when the parts manual refer to '2" they mean on the axle as a whole (they quote 10 wheel nuts but NOT on each side). Regards Keith |
