somehow the times dont seem that fast?

back 1960 i had an old 1934 Ford coupe, located a stock 1959 Chevy 348" engine & 4speed trans. put it in with 1955 Chevy rear!

went 11.80s at 124 MPH, and that was considered mediocr .

drive it to and from the track!

Eh... most widely produced 60's era muscle cars were 13-second cars in stock form, at best. A Hemi Cuda was a 13.1 car, and even a Boss 429 was a 13.6 car.

Stock to stock we're living in a muscle car renaissance. Even back in 2004, my stock '04 LS1 GTO automatic was a 14.0 car, with heads/cam, bolt-ons, it was a low 12 car. (Then I put an iron block NA 408 and it was at mid 11's.)

My 2011 Camaro SS automatic LS3 was a low-13 car stock, solid 12's with bolt-ons, high-11's with a cam, then 10.3 @ 133 with a supercharger (and roll cage).

Now my 2016 LT1 SS Camaro with an 8-speed automatic, getting 28mpg HWY is a low 12 car, bone stock (haven't modified or raced it much since it's so nice).

Plenty of other modern muscle cars are doing some amazing things with safety, economy, driven to the track.

Anyway, seeing these modern supercharged Jags running mid 12's in stock form is pretty darn impressive!

Padre

That car was also 2000 pounds lighter then an XF since the weight of my car without me in it is almost 4200 pounds. If we could shave 2000 pounds off our car it would run 10's

The wife and I went on a track in the South Island, Teretonga, (incidentally the most southern FIA race track in the world) and they had a 1/4 mile strip.
Stock 1999 4.0 XJR I ran 13.13 and she ran 13.20
Almost feel like it might have been a bit short but cannot confirm so will just have to accept the results

Hello Allenman,

Tires are slightly wider than stock in the rear, so 305's in lieu of 295, and I have gone with Michellin PS4S. As for mods there is a whole slew of them, in order of implementing them:
  • Mina Intake (from factory boxes to throttle body)
  • K&N Drop in Filters
  • Upper VAP Pulley
  • Rica Tune (eventually replaced with VAP Tune)
  • Lower Eurotoys Pulley, and new double sided belt
  • QuickSilver Axle Back Exhaust
  • Lighter 2pc Wortec Rotors with EBC Yellow Stuff Pads (on all 4 corners)
  • High Flow 300 cell Vibrant CATS
  • Custom VAP Stage 2 Tune, already mentioned above, but tweaked to compensate for hardware changes

2000 Jaguar XJR
close to stock
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...e-spec-209391/

13.622@102.57 mph

Beat a High Perf Audi (Some kind of RS or S- I get confused - they all look the same to me!), AMG benz and a 2005 Cadillac CTS-V with LS6 (which wrecked its rear end mid race)

Congrats!!! I think you can do even better if you bring down your 60foot. If I can get my big sedan down into the 1.8's you should be able to get your XKR down as well.

What tires are you running???

I also want to thank the moderator for updating the post on the first page to include the latest times listed, but you listed my trap speed incorrectly, 199, in lieu of 119

Thanks! The next track day is in 4 weeks so I will try again. It will be a bit hotter though as that will be early summer here.

I am using Michelin Pilot Sport 4S's now and they totally transformed the car. The Dunlop Sport Maxx's that were on the car before were just hopeless after I started doing my power upgrades. It was only after I put the Michelin's on that I had the confidence to put the smaller pulley and tune on otherwise the car would have been pretty undriveable and the extra power would just have been lost to wheel spin.

nice work that is damn quick for sure .
you could not be more correct . The Dunlop Sport Maxx's are a limiting factor .
i struggled to keep my STR in the 13's on those . now i find the bridgestone potenza's RE002 or RE003 adrenalin are at least twice the tyre.
and makes it almost always a low 13 and the occasional late 12.
you were lucky to have the nation wide cold snap on the 20th . its been hot up until that .
we had hail and sleet for the last two days around Nelson .
lucky for some who can go racing on a work day .

Please add me to the list!

08 XKR Convertible
I was expecting to hit 12.4 but what I didn't calculate for is Vegas horrible track, first it turns out it's up the hill so track speeds are down, plus head winds that day and DA density altitute around 2200 . All of the cars in our race group including the RS3 which was the fastest in our group ran slower than expected. Around 600-700 cars in total that night which was nuts, there was maybe 7, 8 accidents that night I assume partially because of poor track prep.. We waited from 7pm to 11:30 pm to get just two runs in that was really frustrating.
Rs3 which normally runs just under 12 and traps 115 could only run 12.5 , 12.35 and best of 12.15 with highest trap of 112.
Q50 red sports with intake , exhaust and jb4 tune pushing 500 hp could only do best of 13.0 and 110 trap
Na Camero SS at 14.5, SRT8 at 14.1
I was lucky at end of the night it was 12:30 at night and just ran my third time and they let a few cars including mine hot lap back to back runs before closing the track, surprisingly the more I ran the faster car got 12.7 , 12.67, 12.61 with consistent trap of 110mph, then they shut the track down. Best 60ft on best run was only at 1.92 . Over all car did good for the crappy track conditions in Vegas, should be at least 2 tenth faster at other track here home in Cali. Keep in mind car is a convertible and is 100lb havier than the coupe.
