1996 Vanden Plas in Norman OK/Dallas TX.
Hello everyone,
I have a 96 VDP that I have owned since 8/2009. I bought this one owner car in Reno NV with 50K miles on it. I currently have about 115K miles. It is white and I am not sure of the interior color. Except for the paint clearcoat going bad on the horizontal surfaces, the car is in great shape. Well, except for the headliner, but I'm sure that I am the only one with a headliner problem. Overall, the car has been trouble-free. I live in Norman OK and I work in the Dallas area, selling new homes. My long time friend and mechanic, Charlie Blankenship of Sports & Classics in Norman OK just moved to the Florida panhandle. There went my mechanic who I trusted completely. I am hoping to find a good independant mechanic in the Dallas area who will do great work and not rip me off. I don't know how much longer I will keep this car. Maybe another year or so. The only things that aren't working are the clock (common), the sunroof (Charlie said not to open it until he adjusts it. I never had it done) CD player doesn't play all the time, but I don't really use it. I just repaired the trunk wiring harness. 13 of the wires were completely severed. I re-attached all of the wires with butt connectors and shrink wrapped them. Now my trunk release works again! That's about it. Air blows ice cold. Motor and transmission are good. I need to do the upper ball joints. The head gasket leaks a bit, but the car doesn't get hot at all. Overall a great car.

Welcome to the forums Todd,
Good to have you with us and to hear you've had ten years with little trouble from your VdP.
I can see you've already found your way to the X300 forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the US Southwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-southwest-37/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.

Welcome neighbor. That's quite a commute. I'm a DIY'er so I can't speak to local repair shops but the Jaguar Club is having their annual concours event the weekend of April 27th. That would be your best opportunity to ask for referrals.
