2003 XJR
hello everyone, I've just registered as a new member of JAGUAR FORUMS.COM
Was the '03 XJR available with air suspension? I've recently come into possession of a really clean, low mileage XJR. It appears to have conventional shock absorbers on the front, and the Jaguar name is visible. The shock bodies are green in color.
Question is, there are two wires plugged in at the upper shock mounting point, and I don't know what they are for.
Was going to install new shocks, but am unsure what the original equipment was.
Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this......any help offered will be very much appreciated.

Welcome to the forums mdcliff,
2003 was a model change year when the aluminium bodied X350 was introduced to replace the steel bodied X308 - both were available in 2003:
X308 (XJ8/XJR) 1997 - 2003
X350 (XJ6/XJ8/XJR) 2003 - 2009
The X308 was available with adaptive damping - the X350 available with air suspension. Both have wires going to the top of the front shock absorbers!

The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Thanks for the info.
I've determined I have the X308 with auto dampening front shocks.
Question now is, does the rear also have the auto dampening shocks, or something else.
Installed a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+, balanced and front end alignment.
Problem is, I still fell a slight "churning" while driving.
Could some of this be due to the wider tread contact of the tire?
I've been looking at some Bilstein shocks, but WOW, thery can be pricey.

Now it is clear which model you have, you should post technical questions in the X308 forum:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj8-xjr-x308-27/
This the rear suspension arrangement:
Unusual handling is often due to failure of the A Frame bushes (RH arrowed).
