2003 XK8 Conv Rear Quarter Window Manual Open/Close

Just an FYI that someone may find helpful. I have a 2003 Jaguar xk8 conv. I have had it for 13 years. When i bought it and opened the driver side window the rear quarter windows would also open, sometimes. I am sure the seller knew this (a consignment dealer) and did not disclose it. Anyway, eventually i found a youtube video that explained/showed a fairly easy manual override. The video title is " Adding a switch to Control the Rear Windows on a Jaguar XK8", the youtube channel is "sam1174".
This fix/override is also helpful if you try to open your top/roof (aka the "HOOD") and the rear windows open but the roof (hood) does not as is likely to occur if you dash "message center" is displaying the "Hood Not Latched" message (which has also been an issue for me, again for the last 13 years and not disclosed when car was purchased).
If you add a switch be sure to use a 3-position "rocking switch" if the switch does not return to center automatically and is left on one side or the other, it will drain/kill you battery. Best Regards, bill

Welcome to the forums Bill,

Good to have you with us.

I can see you've already posted in the XK8/XKR forum about this issue so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/western-us-ak-ca-nv-ut-hi-wa-id-38/ to find other members in your region.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.
