Default An '88 XJS finds a new owner in Minnesota

After driving the Mark VII for about ten years, I knew what I wanted in a car: enough performance to pass in traffic, and enough buttons to make me feel like I'm flying a spaceship with leather interior.

My last Mark VII, a '92 with a rare paint code and dealership option package, was T boned almost a month ago, and the day after it happened, I was already shopping for a new one. Found one in state, but it wasn't worth the asking price at all. As for the guy who was selling it... I hope he drops his iPhone in the toilet.

I still wanted that blend of luxury and performance, and for some reason that shall remain unexplained because I did not show my math when I turned in my homework, I ended up with a Jaguar XJS. I did enough research to know that '88 was a relatively safe year. The finish I'm not particularly wild about, but the cream exterior with blue interior isn't something you see every day, so of course I had to have it. I wanted to keep her stock, but the fact that a previous owner (I'm owner number three) pulled the growler in favor of the leaper was basically giving me license to pull out all the stops and do whatever the hell I want, so that's exactly what I'm going to do... Once I get past the standard "old car problem" exam (which I'll bug the guys in the XJS forum about,) I'll start doing the fun stuff.

At any rate, here she is:

As I tend to name most of my stuff (vehicles and guitars, at least,) she'll be getting a name at some point. Also, just behind her you can see a Royal Enfield Bullet. That one's mine too.

Congrats!

I had an '88 XJS for a number of years. Gawd! What a car . Fabulous on the open highway. Felt like king of the road.

An old XJS will take some time and effort to sort out .....and then repay you in more than equal measure.

Cheers
DD
