98 XJ8 - First Jag
Hi all,
Bought my first Jag a month ago, 98 XJ8 with the classic motor failure. I bought it for my wife as a birthday present. Car is absolutely beautiful, burgundy, 68K, the interior looks like new, but engine failed due to tensioners. Thought I knew what I was getting into???:icon_doh: I found a wrecked 99 with a Jag replacement engine that only had 31K miles and a rebuilt transmission. After spending a couple of days this week pulling motors, actually after starting to pull the second motor I began to realize some subtle differences!!! After doing some research today, and thankfully finding this forum:icon_angel: I am slowly accepting the fact that 1+1 does not equal one good 98 with a fresh, updated 99 motor. I have posted my questions in a separate thread. I look forward to interacting with the group. I can tell that there are some super knowledgeable, enthusiastic and compassionate folks on the forum and look forward to participating. :icon_razz: Thanks, Roger |
