Welcome to the forum.
Looks like you have put some serious time into the E Type. Very nice. |
Yes, the E Type had a slipping clutch and as the engine must come out to change the clutch, I thought "What the heck, may as well do a little more..."
Two years later the engine, transmission etc were as new, with new floors and firewalls in the body. Heaps more photos here: XKE Data - 1E50182 - Jaguar E-Type (XKE) information, articles, photos and register The XJ40 is showroom, immaculate a real gentleman's ride. I think the XJ40 was definately the best Jag of the post Sir William Lyons era and certainly superior to todays Jags. Sad to admit it, but I suspect Ford is responsible for the quality in Jaguar during the late 1980s and 1990s. Pity most XJ40s are plagued with Lucas electrical problems! I'm inclined to the theory that any machine made in Coventry is probably exceptional. I also have a restored 1953 Ferguson TEA20 tractor! An interesting connection between the Little Grey Fergy is that the Standard engine, 28 HP in the Fergy tractor, is virtually the same 100 HP plus Standard engine installed in the Triumph TR2, TR3, TR3A, TR4 sports car.
