Corrosion and heat damages

Dear Jaguar owners,

I was wondering if you could help me with a project. I am gathering images of corroded aluminium external and internal trims (this is shown as white clouds on the bright finish) and heat damaged exhaust pipe-ends. All images will be shown during to JLR in the next couple of days and hopefully a solution to these problems will be provided to future models.

Please email all images to g.vitolo@oxsicoat.com

Kind regards,

Gustavo

Welcome to the forum Gustavo,

JLR are not unaware of the corrosion issues on their aluminium trim and bodies. Rectification under warranty must have cost a significant sum over the years. I was certainly pleased not to have to pay for corrosion repairs to the bodywork on my XK last year. As you do not list a Jaguar in your forum profile, your request is unlikely to be as evidential support for a warranty claim.

Your eMail address indicates you are connected with OxSiCoat which specialises in protective coatings for metals and metal alloys. Would I therefore be correct in thinking this "project" is a sales pitch to JLR?

Welcome aboard.

Dear Graham,

Thank you for your reply.
I do have connection with the OxSiCoat technology and I am aware of the need of better protection for all aluminium finishes in the automotive industry. You are no correct in thinking this is a 'sales pitch' as JLR will never buy this technology as OEMs will only buy finished products.

The 'project' I am working on is in relation to end users (car owners) not knowing how their car's trims and aluminium finishes corrode and the possible solution available in the industry.

Spreading the word and knowledge about this issue and making sure OEMs know that their clients have real problems regarding corrosion, will allow OEMs to find the best solution to avoid further warranty claims.

Hello Gustavo,

Thank you for the explanation.

Please be careful in posts that your personal interest in the topic does not become a platform for promoting OxSiCoat. Commercial enterprises are welcome on the forum as Sponsors or Vendors but they do pay for this privilege. We therefore have to ensure questions and discussions aren't a way of advertising or promoting products without having a contract with forum owner, Internet Brands. This would place our Sponsors and Vendors at a disadvantage and they are unsurprisingly not slow to make a complaint when it happens.

Thank you for the advice Graham. I will definitely take it on board. The last thing I want is to harm the forum and those involve in it.
