Default Expat in Texas

Hi folks....I'm Stuart, a Brit currently living near Houston in Texas. My XJ-S illness started on a cold winters night in 2010. One two many glasses of red wine and access to ebay! Anyway, ended up bidding on a 1989 V12 coupe and forgot about it till morning...then realized I'd won! It was less than 2k, but a pretty stupid gamble. Anyway, I got the car transported down to my home and on first impressions, not a bad car. Bodywork solid, but not perfect by any means. I remember taking the car for a drive and thinking, this feels dangerous! The steering, brakes all felt wrong. Fast forward 3 years, countless hours of toil and many thousands of pounds later and I had a reasonably well sorted car.

In early 2013 I had to move to the US with work and elected to store the car. It wasn't really viable to bring her over. During that time, I've continued to keep the car ticking over and have had KWE do some more upgrades and mods. Eventually, I plan a full bare metal respray. I was back in the UK during the summer of this year and got to drive her for the week. It was great, but when I got back to the US......you know what's coming next!

I'm now the proud owner of a 1996 British Racing green XJS 4L convertible. I got the car in Austin, Tx, but the cars 2 previous owners lived in California and Nevada. The car doesn't have any rust whatsoever....totally solid and clean with only 55k miles. I bought her for less than $13k, which judging from current UK prices is something of a bargain.

Anyway, I used to be on this forum in the past with my first xj-s and found it to be a great resource. Hope to learn and share my new experiences with the new XJS.

I've uploaded some photos of both cars,

stuart

Welcome to the forum Stuart,

I wouldn't allow my gas bottles anywhere near an XJS!

Follow Norri's link in post #2 to the XJS forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham
