Welcome to the forum Jim,
The aim of the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum is for new members to tell us something about themselves and their vehicle. If you tell us which Jaguar MODEL you have, it will be a lot easier to point you in the right direction for relevant help and advice.

Welcome to the Forums.
I guess the USA?
The S Type 4.2 started around 2003, to end of production, with small changes along the way, and market specific items, smog, etc.
The S Type (X200) Tech Section, down the home page a tad, will have the answers, and many more members will see your post.
Good luck.

Jim,
Thanks for confirming the Model. I've added this to your forum Signature.
I've also moved your other Intro post to S-Type forum for advice from members with the same model. Here's the direct link to it:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...-p0729-213600/
I can eliminate code P1000 for you immediately. It is a status meaning the OnBoard Monitoring Tests have NOT been completed since the last memory clear. You will always see this or code P1111 when all the tests have been completed.

Jim,
Do NOT rely on a Jaguar temperature gauge! They are deliberately designed to read below normal unless the temperature rises to dangerous levels. If you want to monitor actual coolant temperature then Jaguar Diagnostics (SDD - Symptom Driven Diagnostics) is the best way but something like TorquePro is a low cost option.
