Hello

I am looking forward to participating in the forums. My current daily driver is a 2006 GTO 6.0l 6-speed of the Pontiac variety. The plan is to acquire an XK8 convertible for some top down motoring fun. I think I have narrowed it down to a 2003 or later without the factory navigation system.

I have been a fan of Jaguars ever since my ride in the back of an XKE coupe (non 2+2 and at the age of 6) just outside Madrid, Spain. A USAF officer friend of my dad's had one and was taking my mother and myself for a ride. That ride and a ride in an Excaliber Roadster, also near Madrid are two rides I will never forget. This was in either 1965 or 1966. A ride in the back of a Series 3 XJ6 in the early '80s in Houston and a drive in a different Series 3 XJ6 in San Francisco in the late '80s have kept the flame alive. I have looked at several XJ8s but have decided that the XK8 is the one for me. 23 tumultuous years in the airline business have prevented me from joining the Jaguar fraternity until now.

There are plenty of XKs in the DFW area and alot of shops to repair them. Most of the problems with these cars can be solved by members of this forum.

THank you one and all. Still in the airline business for a few more years but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and fortunately it is not a freight train. ;)
