Hello from Atlanta
My name is Joe and I am new to the forum. In February I purchased a 1998 XK8 Convertible in BRG over Oatmeal. The car had 35K miles on it and was in showroom condition. The previous single owner left a note in the manual that he averaged just round 500 miles per year within the last 6 years, and that the car had always been garaged-kept and dealer serviced in Asheville, NC. He said he liked his new vintage airplane better.
This body style has been my dream car since it hit the market. I swore to myself I would own one at some point. I am proud that dream came true. So far I am amazed at the driving experience this car provides. Refinement in detail, design and power, and intergity everywhere you look. This site is an impressive collection of knowledge and generosity, and I look forward to it being an integral part of my Jaguar enjoyment. See you on the boards. Happy to meet up with any owners in the Atlanta area. |
Hello Joe and welcome to jaguarforums.com. I know that you are anxious to get started and we are anxious to meet you and talk about your car. Oh one other thing you need to put your car details in your signature. I am speaking of the Year, Make & Model. Without it you may not get the input you are looking for. Please take a moment and read the information provided to you explaining the rules. Be patient and enjoy the site. |
Welcome to the forum Joe,
Sounds like you found a good one. You'll find lots of good info in the XK section. |
Hi Joe, welcome to the forum. Glad you finally got your dream car. :icon_razz:

Joe: Another welcome to the Jag owner's forum.
There are a number of very knowledgeable XK8 owners in Atlanta and the North Georgia mountains. I vacated Lawrenceville to live on the Tennessee River 8 years ago, but we still hang out around Helen on weekends. It sounds as if you have a cherry of a car--with such low miles. BUT: Has your car had the plastic secondary camshaft tensioners changed over to metal tensioners? Has the water pump been changed to a metal impeller pump? Has the plastic thermostat housing been changed over to a metal housing? These are all issues to address to insure a pleasurable owners experience. Good luck! |
There is a very large British auto show coming up the first weekend in May @ Berry College in Rome. The website said they had 5000 people showup last year. I used to go to the car show when it was out at Chateau Elan. See ATLANTABRITISHMOTORCARDAY.COM.
Atlanta has a bunch of new and old British automobiles--Aston Martins, Jaguars, Lotus', Mini's, Triumphs, MG's, and many others. I couldn't get over the incredible cars that shows up for this car show--absolutely beautiful cars. If anyone is in the southeast U.S., I would say this is a must weekend stop. There are also other British auto shows in Pigeon Forge, TriCities (TN) and Blytheville, AR in the coming weeks. |
Hey Joe, welcome to the forum. The previous owner must have been nuts, enjoy your car.
You will of course be doing more miles in it, wouldn't like to need to send the boys round. ;) |
