hello from S.W. Oregon - recent XK8 owner
I've always enjoyed building cars, so when I sold my small business and retired three years ago, I guess I kinda went nuts doing just that. it keeps me ocupied and out of trouble, and I honestly love the building process. up to this point it's been mostly towards the resto-mod style and street rods, but when I picked up a really nice 99 XK8 on E-bay, just a week or so ago, I may have found a car that doesn't need "upgrades"
. I intend to enjoy this car for what it is now…..., as long as it stays in one piece anyway
I've since sold a couple of these, but over the past three or four years I've built a 23 T Bucket with 99 Northstar engine and T-5 trans + my own home brew 8 stack EFI system. then it was a 64 Corvette roadster that needed some serious body work and tlc. then a 62 Vette that I put a 350 TPI engine and ZF 6 speed in, from a 90 Vette, + the usual restoration, paint and interior. most recently I just finished a 59 Chev Bel Air resto Mod with LS1, 6 speed, air ride, vintage air, etc, etc. ya… I've kept pretty busy, but I'm ready for a break for a wile, so I hope to enjoy the Jag this summer and do more driving than building for a wile.
I've spent quite a bit of time browsing this forum lately to bone up on the quirks of (my first) XK8 and am looking forward to having a new arrow in the quiver. hopefully it won't need any major work, at least for a wile. the Car will be coming from Ky., so hopefully the weather will clear enough soon, between here and there, to get that done.
