Help

Hi i have a Jaguar XJS V12, it struggles to idle. We have cleaned and flushed the fuel system, new filters etc. Nice clean gas runing through.
New plugs, and yet it still idles rough and seems to pop until it is warmed. Even then there is still a little popping when you pull away.
Any solutions?

There are SO many possibilities here.

First, what year is the car?

Next, is the problem related to engine temperature in any way?

When you say "popping" do you mean a backfiring thru the intake? Or a misfire heard in the exhaust? Or....?

Was the car in storage for a long time?

Cheers

Sorry. I just realized you wrote "...until it is warmed". Duh. Sometimes I'm not so bright.

Have you checked the coolant temp sensor? It plays a big role in fuel control on a cold engine.

Cheers

XJS V12 runs rough when started

Still haveing trouble with my 1986 Jaguar XJS V12, still idles rough, backfires through the intake, takes at least 45 minutes to go onto a steady idle, but will still backfire when in early acceleration.

I was going to say 'welcome to the forum' but noticed you've been a member for one month longer than me! :icon_lol:

If you're still having the same issues ten months later, a post in the XJS section will be seen by members with the same vehicle.

Follow this link XJS - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum and post as much detail as you can about what has been done so far in attempting to rectify the problem.

Graham
