Hey all! XJS starts cold but conks.. help please!!
Hey guys and gals,
good to see such an active forum.. hopefully ye can help narrow down my problem.
i own a 1990 XJS 5.3L coupe with 66,000m living in Ireland
The car has been in storage the past 7 years and was occasionally driven.
it always started fine first time on the key but lately it will still start first time, when cold and runs for a minute or so then conks. If I try to start it again after it conks it will just keep turning and will not fire up!
I can leave it for a few hours or the next day and same thing...starts first time, runs for a couple minutes, then dies..
It's definitely not the fuel pump as I have put in a replacement pump to eliminate one possibility..
Anybody have similar issues or know the best place to start other than fuel pump?
Thanks in advance!!

Hello, Frank,
Highly annoying, isn't it, when Any car acts like that, let alone your Jaguar!
However, these cars do Not like storage (well, that goes for any car actually), they like to be taken out and used on a regular basis.
I hope you get to the bottom of that problem soon, so you can DRIVE the car instead of let it sit and rot..
