Default Hi my name's Jason, I own a 2002 XType 3.0.

So I'm having a issue, I lost my key, but I bought 2 new ones, I had a lock smith come out and he said he cannot get my ecm to communicate so he can program them, I've already programmed them to lock, unlock, and pop the trunk, but they need the chip to be programmed to start the car, and since it won't communicate, the licksmlocis unable to do this. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Welcome to the forum Jason,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Key questions are a regular on the forum but each mode has its own peculiarities. Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x-type-x400-14/ to the X-Type forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

I can see you are in the US but no City or State so I can't give you a link to the relevant Region forum.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Hello, Jason,
Ain't technology grand?
I hope you get your key(s) to start your car soon. Kinda rotten to have a new toy you can't play with.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
