Default Long time Jag owner / new to forum

2000 XKR & 1989 VDP owner. New to forum, so probably posted first inquiry into wrong thread, but can't seem to get back to the page. Anyhow, for the first time, my XKR went into restricted mode, but self-cleared after 2 minutes at idle. Drove the car 4 days later and it went into restricted mode again, but only self-cleared after I drove it 1/4 mile to the technician's driveway, literally clearing when I was braking to a stop at his shop. Naturally, tech couldn't reproduce the restricted mode after 3-4 hrs of intermittently driving 4-5 miles, letting it sit 10 minutes, restarting without restricted mode popping up again. Tech said no codes were set, and said if it's a coil, a code won't set. I'm tempted to throw some coils at it anyway, as the current ones are original. 60k miles on the car. Any suggestions as to whether I'm on the right track and, if so, any recommendations of brand to buy or store to buy from? I see coil prices anywhere from $25 ea to $100 ea. Any suggestions appreciated.

I'm sorry your cat is hacking up hairballs. Hopefully you can get that fixed soon.

Welcome to the forum hoot,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I can see you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
Here's the direct link to your other post there:

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj40-xj81-25/ to the XJ40 forum for your VdP. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top of each is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/western-us-ak-ca-nv-ut-hi-wa-id-38/
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.
