I love my Xtype. When it runs that is..... In 2007 I started looking for a decent ride in the 10K range I came across A 2002 X-TYPE, White with black tinted windows at a local dealer. I was sold when I found it was a manual transmission, 2.5 L V6 i.e gas mileage freindly and sporty. Test drive went great...done deal out the door for less than 11K. Then a few days later I noiced slight wifts of white exhaust that was getting worse. Took it back to the dealer. He told me to get it fixed and he'd split the cost.. Agreed. Found it had a head gasket leak. After talking to a few mechanics who told me that the engine had to be dropped from below even to fix the head gaskets and if they were fixed and the bottom end was still damaged, several recommended just swapping the motor. Found a 2005 2.5L with 30K fewer miles on it for $1400 delivered on eBay. Had it swapped for $2000. Went back to the dealer....Out of Business! Crap!! Still got a whole engine in my garage that I have yet to rebuild. The new motor hasn't been without porblems, but nothing major until now. See my next thread and help if you can.

Welcome to the forum qwiksword,
Sorry to hear about the major issues with your X-Type engine.
As you've been reading here for some time, no need to give you a link to the X-Type section. Post the details there and I'm sure the resident experts will be able to help.
Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User ID button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Welcome to this friendly and helpful forum.
I see you've already found your way to the right sub-forum to help with your problems - sorry to hear about them.
It's a good idea to put all your car's details in your signature as Graham said so others have the details to hand when they try to help.
Good luck.
