My 1998 XK8 Jag Conv. is my baby

I have a 1998 jaguar xk8 convertible, transmission line that connects to the passenger side of the transmission blew out, almost all transmission fluid had run out of vehicle spraying all over the chassis. As soon as I saw smoke I stopped the car immediately and at the same time the failsafe engine light came on and the engine cut off. It was towed to my mechanic's shop. He replaced transmission lines (both of them); thoroughly cleaned the chassis of transmission fluid, checked the electrical wiring system, twice, replaced the battery, electrical wiring system has been double checked, the fuses have been checked and appear to be good. The car will not start. When trying to start it, it does turn over 1 click, dash lights come on, but there is no spark, no fuel injector pulses. My mechanic says he can not get his Genesis to communicate with the PCM. Mechanic states the Genesis has no problem communicating with other vehicles. He states he can't check the transmission until he can start the vehicle. Looks like we are at a standstill. Why is the vehicle not starting? And why will it no longer communicate with the genesis? Please help. Any suggestions will be greatly, greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum BG Phillips,

Good to have you here with us at Jaguar forums.

Follow Norri's link to the XK8/XK8 section for help, advice and information. There's clearly some TCM to ECM fault but a scanner that can read the codes is going to be essential.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forum.
