New 2003 XJ Owner - Gold Canyon, AZ

My name is Joe and I purchased my first Jaguar this week. It is a one owner 2003 XJ8 with 68k miles. The car was purchased new at Royal Jaguar in Tucson, serviced there since new, and the original owner just traded it in at Royal for a XK. It is a base model with heated rear seats and the Alpine premium stereo option. The car looks brand new and was really taken care of.

I have always owned American cars (Lincolns and Mercurys) so this is certainly a change. I am a car guy and completed a full restoration of a 1967 Mercury Cougar which I still own. Despite only having the Jag for a few days, I have pulled apart the dash to replace the steering wheel reach cable and made a XJR grille to replace the plastic waterfall insert. Tonight I plan on troubleshooting the trunk wiring to repair the trunk light fault.

I have always wanted one of these Jags since I was in high school. In fact, in 2003 when this car was new I was in high school... here 10 years later I finally have one (after much depreciation of course). Anyway, glad to be a Jaguar owner.

Joe welcome to the forums. You bought a great car and the last of the classics!! Be sure to have the timing chain tensioners addressed if you don't have paperwork to prove its already been done!!! The most important thing on a x308. Your going to love your car!!!! Again welcome to the family.

Thanks for all of the welcomes guys.

I really like my Jag...:icon_cool:

So far it has been very easy to work on. I have replaced the steering wheel reach cable, repaired the trunk wiring, and will attempt to fix the front end clunk by replacing the sway bar end links/bushings. So far so good.
