New Guy - 2006 XK8 Convertible in Canada

Hi All,
Just bought my dream car and enjoying every hour driving it!
2006 XK8 Convertible, Victory Edition in Copper Black Metallic, with only 60,000 miles (not km) on it. Previous owner did oil changes and routine maintenance but pretty much everything on the car is factory original.

A few little problems that I'm slowly working through with the marvelous assistance of John at To The Garage and Gary VanRemortel's amazing guide to the car.

A question for folks on the forum - what are the likely items that need replacing due to age? I get some shimmy and shaking going over bumps so expect to change some of the bushings. I have a new set of tires for it, since the tires were getting worn and dated back to 2010.
Serpentine Belt? Bushings that are most likely to need replacing?

Thanks!

Hello,
Congratulations on your new Jaguar Xk8!
First off you NEED to replace those tires. This is why:

These tires, Michelins, were on my Jag when I got it. Looked Brand New! Still had rubber whiskers from the factory mold. But this is what happened one very nice afternoon, rounding a gentle curve at about 70, when she gave a little wiggle and rubber shards were strewn all over the road behind me.

Only then did I learn the tires were TEN YEARS OLD!

So YES! By all means get some new tires on your new Jag. And then, a fluid flush, and replacement of all perishable rubber parts such as hoses and belts.

Someone will be along shortly to direct you to the correct section where members will give you further advice.
