New jag xj8 vdp owner! Yea!!
Hello to the forum!
This past week I purchased my 1999 Jaguar XJ8 Vanden Plas from a used car dealer in Fort Pierce, Florida. I love this car! Yes, it has a few "features" that I need to fix, but overall it's an awesome vehicle. I've owned high performance Mustangs, Thunderbirds, a Camry, and a pick-up truck...those were the old days....it was time to buy something "age appropriate", as well as for my work. I'm retired from the goverment, and now private investigator here in Florida.
After purchasing this vehicle, I immediately found the Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum and joined. The information here is incredible! I've already used at least three pieces of information to begin fixing the "bugs" that come with an older vehicle. So I'm really appreciative to the forum's creators, administrators, moderators, and all the great people who have tons of insight and practicle knowledge of their Jags.
I look forward to sharing with as many forum members as possible.

Welcome aboard Tempest, funny that Norri should mention that, it was the first thing that crossed my mind.
Hope that you don't have too many issues to 'investigate' but you are in the right place, if you do.

LOL - Thank you for the warm welcome
You are correct, this vehicle is not the ordinary "stake out" vehicle. Funny though, how so many times things can be overlooked by simply staring at them. The PI business that I just started here will expand...but for now it's mostly paperwork while I organize. Had to have the vehicle for show - you know.

Welcome to the forum! I know just how you feel; I bought my 02 XJ8L VDP almost 4 years ago. What a dream to drive. Mine was (and is!) in showroom condition and amazingly inexpensive for such a beautifu,l luxurious automobile.
But there is a distinct trade-off: They are noticably more expensive to maintain than more mainline cars. Everything for a Jag costs more: parts, labor diagnostics, fluid changes, etc. That's where this forum can really help if you are the least bit mechanically inclined. Also, if you can find by referral a truly competent independent Jag mechanic, as I have, you will be either richer or, at least less poor!
I think the increased maintenance costs are well worth the 'Jag joy' I experience every day. But a few others on this forum have found far less 'joy' than I. Stay connected and share your experiences with us as they occur - - both good and not so good.

I am having a fun experience with my car so far - it's in the shop (under warranty work) because of the timing chain tensioner. I've posted the episode as it's happening! LOL
