Hi all,
I am new to the forum. I live in upstate NY and am a elementary school teacher. I just bought a 1991 XJS convertible. It sat dormant for 7 years until I got it. I have so far put in new brakes front and rear, a new radiator and replaced the fuel and radiator hoses. I am having issues with the speedo and temp gauge works sporatically. The speedo kicks in around 20 mph and then works fine. The trip set and odometer do not work. I replaced the transducer in the rear differential and that did not help. I also got a used transducer module from a salvage yard and the exact thing is still happening. I pulled the speedo cluster and cleaned the connections and still no help. I ordered a used speedo cluster and will try that when it comes in next week. Will keep you posted. Thanks for the help! |
Welcome to the Forums.
The XJS Tech Section will have heaps of info about your car and even that speedo. The earlier cars benefited from a dedicated earth wire from the cluster TO a convenient body earth nearby, in lieu of using the loom earth. That wire sorted all the cluster issues with mine about 18 years ago. Good luck. |

Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details. Thank you - glad to be a member. I bought my car after it sat in a garage for 7 yrs. I am going thru all systems and making lots of progress. It just seems when a car sits it leaves lots of gremlins to fix!
