New Member from Arizona
Hello, All
I am new to the forum, and am located in Phoenix, AZ.
I currently own a 1999 Jaguar XJR, and have been an owner for the past 4 months. I'm only 20 yrs old, but I wanted something unique and with some V8 power (as opposed to my first car, which was an 05 Prius), and stumbled upon a red 2001 XJ8 at a local dealer, and ever since then, I knew I wanted a Jag.
I am hoping this forum helps with maintenance and possibly some modifications I have in mind for the Jag.
The Jag is currently not running due to a failed primary pump, but I'm hoping to get it running as soon as the pumps come in.
Thanks.
Erasmo R.

The Jag is running
Thanks for the welcome, everyone.
Here's my update on the Jag:
I did get the Jag running, by replacing the two fuel pumps (since mine's s/c). I could not get the fuel lines from the bottom of the car off, even with a lift. I had to cut a flap of metal behind the back seats to get to the fuel lines in the proper position to get them off. I could have cut on top, right behind the back seat where the speaker is, but I didn't want to ruin the mount for the speaker, and it's easier with the fuel tank out all the way. It seems like the fuel pumps were replaced previously; upon closer look, it had been replaced with two URO Parts fuel pumps, and the sock/strainer was pretty dirty, so I'm not sure if that's what cause the primary pump failure. I replaced it with two fuel pumps, that don't have many reviews online (Sears.com), so I am a bit nervous as to their reliability/durability/quality.
Total time to complete the job was about 2 hours once I made the flap in the back seat. I did a fuel pressure check, and was getting about 39 psi at the rail. At the time of the pressure check, I broke the vacuum hose on the crank case, and had to fit a larger hose on the clamp to the other piece of the evap hose.
But all is well, and I'm hoping to get some luck with maintenance for some time, but I do know it is a 20-year-old car, so I might be testing my luck using it as a daily driver.
Thanks.
