Thanks to all for the warm welcome. And many thanks to all who have posted the wealth of information so that I know what questions to ask when looking at a prospective vehicle. At this point, I am changing direction a bit. I have my sights on a 2007 XK convertible. With the knowledge I have gained here, I feel well equipped to ask the right questions. We shall see what happens.

So the 2007 XK convertible I was looking at fell through. Liquid Silver with Black interior with 37,000 miles. Garage queen in excellent shape. For sale in Cary NC. She was asking $18,500. We settled on $17,750, contingent on a pre-purchase inspection. Inspection revealed badly worn front tires, TCM leaking, thermostat problem, weak battery and lower control arm bushings needing replacement. I offered $15,500, but she said no. I will keep looking.
