Default New Member from GA wants Big Cat...

but not the Bite

I've started my search for an 02-03 XJR. I got the word from a reputable indy Jag shop that these years are solid, but not that cheap to maintain. Problem is they are pretty old at this point. Things like the headliner, leather, and other interior bits are going to fail soon. This car will be my daily driver so it needs to be able to take me on a 35 mile round trip in med traffic daily.
I can do brake and suspension jobs myself, but as these cars get to 80K miles, what else do I need to be aware of?
I took a test ride in an 02 yesterday and it was pretty good, but the headliner was sagging and the leather was cracking. Is this what I need to expect from now on when looking? The real problem is there are not that many good examples locally (ATL), so I would not be able to take an out-of-state car to the garage I respect for an evaluation. Have any of you bought an out of state car? Did you have it inspected?
THANKS!

Welcome to the forum squish, to receive a response to this type of question you would be better off asking over in the XJR section.

Good luck with your search, they are very nice cars indeed.

Welcome, if you happen to buy such a car you will love it I am sure . As for the maintenance parts are not cheap but owning a Jag is like no other in most ways

In my humble opinion....
These cats are such a joy that unless you buy really badly most of the "troubles" are more than worth it...I have owned 7 and the leather always wears though the leather kits are amazing......My tip is look for one where the seat rolls back automatically when you open the door a lot less rubbing of the squab then !...

That sounds fantastic. Which models do this?

Well I have it on mine (tis a 2001 XJ8) my guess it was an extra I beleive that any that have the electric seat positioners will have this feature...(the auto mode is selected on a swtch on the left of the steering column (least on the left over here but then we drive on the "right " side hee hee)
