New member, GrahamAT 1963 E-Type FHC

Greetings folks, I look forward to being an active member. I'm based in Albany, Western Australia and have a fairly reasonable and quite reliable car, which is mechanically very good. Gearbox was upgraded to the all synchro unit. Issues at present are:
  • Positive earth - should I leave it like this? Everything works except the retrofiitted negative earth radio which I disabled because it was a fire waiting to happen.
  • To instal Pertronix ignitor in the Lucas DMBZ 6A distributor with exit point for wiring well below the rim
  • Greasing universals on the rear half axles without a hoist
  • low brake fluid reservoir level warning light only good for the handbrake (and where did the fluid go? Is it in the vacuum reservoir?)
  • Poor alignment of the retrofitted door skins.
  • Front fenders not sitting true - over-riders rolled out somewhat.
I have some pictures but I can't see how to insert them. Clue me up and in they'll go.

cheers

Not many problems for a '64 E-Type, are you sure you've checked everything !

Positive earth conversion to negative is a simple job, but one or two things need doing - plenty on the internet as "how to" not necessarily for an E-type, but Lucas electrics.

Thanks, Jim, Fraser, CG,

On positive earth conversion to negative, I wonder if it's worth the trouble at all. The reputed advantages seem a bit subjective to me, especially as pretty much everything works.

Pictures as promised.

Nice to be here.

Hello and welcome to jaguarforums.com.

If you haven’t already you need to put your car details in your signature. I am speaking of the Year, Make & Model. Without it you may not get the input you are looking for. To do this go to, User CP, Edit Signature, Add Vehicle Details and such and Save Your Signature.

Please take a moment and read the information provided to you explaining the rules. Be patient and enjoy the site.

Also, should you have questions related to your vehicle please post it in the section for your model year (MY) car. This way you will reach all the members that are familiar with your MY car.

What are the supposed advantages?
