Hi fellow Jag enthusiasts.
I've always been a Jag fan, but only recently had the resources to indulge in one. I started out with a platinum x-type 2.5 stick, back when they were leasing at $279 a month (2003?). I loved that car and havebeen waiting for an excuse to get back into a Jaguarever since. My daughter has just started to drive, so I was 'forced' into buying a third vehicle. A '97 XK8 w/74,000 miles (and fairly well priced) caught my eye on eBay and I took the plunge.
Long story short, the car was not in the condition described. Itruns pretty well, but has a good number ofissues that I will need to address over time. I am hoping to tap some of the expertise in this forum to help me get this baby into better condition. I can offer up my experience owning the x-type for three years, in return.
I have attacheda few pictures. Perhaps they will help to explain why I simply couldn't break the gravitational pull of this vehicle, even after I noticed some of the problemsthat should have been disclosed by the seller (a registered dealer in Philly - shame on him).

I am also new to the Forum, and I've had my 97 XK8 for about a year and a half. I can offer input on some issues. Here's my quick 2 cents:
Insure that the upper timing chain tensioners are replaced.
Always allow a full warm up after starting before turning the vehicle off.
Use a high quality 93 octane fuel.
Stop worrying about the Nikasil issues. You can't do anything about them other than the above.
Just enjoy the ride!
